Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Journal of Deep Learning (JDL) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publishing process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher. The policy is guided by the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration by another journal.

  • All sources must be properly acknowledged and cited. Any form of plagiarism is strictly prohibited.

  • Authors must present accurate data and provide a clear methodology so that the study can be replicated by others.

  • Any potential conflict of interest (financial, institutional, or personal) must be fully disclosed.

  • Authors are expected to participate in the peer-review process and respond professionally to reviewers’ comments.

2. Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for making final decisions regarding manuscript publication.

  • Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively, without regard to the author’s race, gender, religion, nationality, or political views.

  • Editors must not use unpublished material from submitted manuscripts for personal advantage.

  • Editors must maintain the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and the anonymity of both authors and reviewers (double-blind review).

  • Editors should take appropriate action if ethical violations are suspected or confirmed.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions and provide constructive feedback to improve the manuscript.

  • Reviewers must conduct reviews objectively and avoid personal criticism of the author.

  • Reviewers must keep all manuscript information confidential and not share it with others.

  • If a reviewer has a conflict of interest or feels unqualified to review a manuscript, they must notify the editor and decline the review.

4. Responsibilities of the Publisher

  • JDL as the publisher is responsible for ensuring that all publication processes are conducted ethically and professionally.

  • The publisher works closely with editors and authors to uphold academic integrity.

  • The publisher is committed to implementing best practices in scholarly publishing and addressing any ethical concerns promptly and transparently.

5. Handling of Ethical Violations

If there is evidence of ethical misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data manipulation, or duplicate submission), the editor will initiate an investigation following COPE guidelines. If misconduct is confirmed, possible actions include:

  • Rejection of the manuscript

  • Retraction of a published article

  • Notification to the author’s affiliated institution

  • Temporary or permanent ban on future submissions from the author

This statement may be updated in accordance with future changes in the journal’s policy or international ethical standards.
